New Superintendent of Schools announced

Chair of the SAU #39 School Board, Christine Janson, is very pleased to announce the selection of its new Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Peter Warburton. After an exhaustive search process resulting in final interviews of the three candidates on Saturday February 12, the SAU #39 School Board voted unanimously to elect Mr. Warburton.
In a press release, the school board is said to be, “delighted with the selection of Peter Warburton”. Ms. Jansen states, “Mr. Warburton brings a student-centered focus and a collaborative management style to our school districts”.
“We are very impressed with Peter’s background and qualifications as a very strong match to what the school board here has indentified in the leadership profile,” Chris Janson commented. She went on to say that “we are particularly pleased with Mr. Warburton’s track record of accomplishments and his strength in communications, which the board felt especially important.”
Prior to his current position as superintendent, Mr. Warburton was assistant superintendent for SAU #53. Mr. Warburton has been involved with all aspects of school leadership including: curriculum, instruction, collective bargaining, budget development, professional development, long-range planning and school improvement. Additionally, he served as principal in the Barrington School District and held assistant principal positions in Northwood, Kingswood and Londonderry. Earlier in his career, Mr. Warburton taught middle school students.
Mr. Warburton has earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Plymouth State University, a M.Ed. from the University of New Hampshire and a B.A. from St. Anselm College. A former Peace Corp Volunteer, Mr. Warburton is actively involved with the Commission of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
Peter Warburton will commence his responsibilities as Superintendent of Schools on July 1, 2011, at which time Dr. Mary Athey Jennings will retire after five years of dedicated service.
